First Aid Basics are pleased to announce we are now offering our accredited Mental Health Awareness Course.
Many of us in the workplace have experienced either in ourselves or others low moods or the effects of excessive pressure. Poor Mental Health is recognised as having a major impact on an individuals’ wellbeing and workplace performance. By investing time to enable staff to be more aware of their own and their colleague’s mental health, listen and signpost them to local resources, it enables appropriate support to be accessed earlier. Research has shown for every £1 spent by businesses approximately £5 can be saved with reduced absence, retention of talent, and improved atmosphere and performance.
Course Description
During this course the participant will understand:
- Mental health and the factors affecting mental wellbeing.
- The signs and symptoms of the most common mental health disorders.
- The way in which stigma and discrimination can hinder recovery.
- How to support people experiencing mental distress.
- Ways of improving your own resilience and mental wellbeing.
The course is practical and will enable you to feel more confident to support your colleagues. Our Instructor has over 20 years of experience in Occupational Health and has supported businesses, managers, and individuals with all aspects of Mental Health and wellbeing. This enables them to create a secure environment for participation and discussion and gives practical examples from their experience. They are very happy to discuss this course further with the relevant person in your workplace.
Course Duration
3.5 to 4 hours depending on break length and any additional material to be added, for example your current in house services.
